This really shouldn’t be this hard. I had used Teams with a previous team and could not seem to remove this old account from the “new” version of Microsoft Teams for macOS.
I finally found this site – https://teamscleanup.funky.io – that finally helped me (and hopefully you) fix this ridiculous situation.
I suggest opening the site above and following their steps, but it was crucial to do the very last item in step number 3.
- In the Keychain app, select “Local Items” from the left and search for your GUID items. I did not find them in the “Login” keychain, only the “Local Items” keychain.
Just in case the above site ever goes offline, here is the summary:
- Quit Teams
- In your terminal app:
rm -rf ~/Library/Group\ Containers/UBF8T346G9.com.microsoft.teamsrm -rf Library/Containers/com.microsoft.teams2
- In the Keychain app, search for the following:
- Note: for any of the following that you find, ensure that it relates to Microsoft in some way. And know that this could impact your Microsoft Office applications as well.
idtokenaccesstokenrefreshtokenteamscom.microsoft.oneauthcpp-general-app-metadata-additional-fieldsappmetadata-- In the “Local Items” keychain, review each GUID entry that you find and delete all of them that relate to Microsoft Teams. The site above notes that there should be two of these, however, I found three in my own keychain.
